Reflexology for Inducing Labor by Traci Fors for the True Harmony Community

Reflexology for labor induction can be effective to help kick-start a woman into labor, but not invasive enough to put a pre-term mother whose body and baby is not ready for birth into labor.

If the body is ready and just stalled, or labor has simply not 'clicked', reflexology can stimulate the body into committing to the process of labor quite effectively. Most women go into labor within 24 to 72 hours after the reflexology induction.

Yes there are ways to determine if the body is responding to reflexology. Most moms will notice increased movement of the baby and or light contractions, or contraction-like sensations. Good responders may elicit the following responses:

  • Movement of the baby (side-shifting)
  • Pelvic pressure
  • Cramping
  • Pain associated with contractions
  • Tightening of the uterus
  • Nausea
  • Backache

Problem Skin? Adjusting Your Diet may Help!

Problematic skin? Try adjusting your diet. No, chocolate does not make you break out, but certain foods can trigger skin problems. Spicy foods and alcohol have been known to cause redness in the cheeks and nose.  Eating high fat content in foods can cause breakouts. To clear up your skin try eating dark, leafy greens such as spinach, broccoli and kale.  Vitamin A is also a strong antioxidant that helps rejuvenate our skin so eat foods such as carrots, pumpkin, apricots, and sweet potatoes to intake more vitamin A. Taking a daily multi-vitamin and fish oil capsules can help your skin as well. Just remember "what you put in the inside will show on the outside"!

Foot Facts and Toe Tiblets by Traci Fors of True Harmony

Foot Facts and Toe Tiblets by Traci Fors, Reflexologist, Massage Therapist and Toe Reader.

Foot Fact for the Week of June 23rd...

The top of your foot is a good place to help flush out congestion in your chest.

Reflexology is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or applying pressure on parts of the feet, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, to relieve stress, cleanse the body of toxins, increase circulation and improve general health. Reflexology was introduced into the United States in 1913 by William H. Fitzgerald, M.D.

Toe Reading is based on the theory that your body records the story of your life. The position and shape of the toes say a lot about their owner. By observing someone's toes you will know a great deal about their past and the experiences they have lived through. For example, the right foot will share your story on how you show up in the world, or relate to an outside relationship, whereas the left foot relates to your relationship with yourself and Spirit. Rarely are the right and left side stories the same.

Traci Fors is a license massage therapist, specializing in reflexology and toe reading at the Center for True Harmony Wellness and Medicine. You can reach her at 480-539-6646 or info@trueharmonywellness.com.

Strengthen your Self Confidence while you Strengthen your Core!

Belly Dancing is more than a feminine form of dance.  It not only strengthens your core and makes you feel amazingly feminine but it develops self confidence in who you are.  THAT, MY FRIENDS, YOU DON’T GET TAKING STEP AEROBICS AT A GYM!  Oh, and It’s also really, really fun!!!  Especially if you have friends join you that you can giggle with when I make you move your hips to the left and your chest to the right! and don't forget to Shimmy too!!  If you do come on your own I guarantee you will meet some incredible women.

I have danced all my life and it was always a dream of mine to be a professional dancer.  However, for the majority of my life I’d let my self image prevent me to follow through with my real dream.  It wasn’t until I started to learn the art of Middle Eastern dancing that I seriously blossomed.  Not only through my fabulous instructors that I’d had and still have but through the many beautiful women I’ve met.  Some of whom have became my absolute closest friends.

Sunscreen Facts

SUNSCREEN! What you need to know!!

Sunscreen is vital, especially in Arizona! You must wear it everyday in order to prevent skin cancer and pigmentation. Most of us just buy what's cheap and put it on. Here are the facts in order to find a really good sunscreen...

- SPF: Stands for "Sun Protection Factor". The number of SPF refers to the product's ability to block out the sun's rays. Everyday you should wear at least an SPF of 15. If you are planning on being in the sun
wear at least a SPF of 30. You may need to re-apply if you are swimming for long periods of time.

- Ingredients: Look for these key words: Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Octocrylene, and Avobenzone. These are all active ingredients that block the suns rays.

- Broad Spectrum: You want a sunscreen that is going to block out the UVA rays (aging rays) and the UVB rays (burning rays). Look for phrases that say "full/broad spectrum" "physical sunscreen" "UVA and UVB protection".

At True Harmony we carry 2 moisturizers with added sunscreen, the Zinc Protection Cream and The Aloe Matte Moisturizer. Come pick one up today and start blocking those rays!

Oily Summer Skin?

Sometimes our skin becomes more oily in the summer due to lack of moisture in the air. In Arizona we can really tell the difference. Not only are we sweating more in these hot summer months, but our skin is lacking moisture, therefore producing more oil. Try using a thicker moisturizer like the mares milk by Rhonda Allison at night and a more light weight moisturizer like the zinc protection cream by Rhonda
Allison during the day.

For a quick fix for that oily shine during the day try oil blotting pads, found at your local grocery store, or the toilet seat covers you find in most public restrooms work just the same!

Keep Wearing Sunscreen,
